Monica Castiglioni Jewelry

The collection of Jewelry designed by Monica Castiglioni is largely inspired by organic forms and textures observed in nature. Monica's intuitive approach is to represent elemental shapes in their rough and raw beauty, creating beautiful objects that are both dynamic and mineral. River rocks, sea shells, pine cones all find their way into Monica's work. Each piece is beautifully hand crafted with an innate directness and approach which serves to bridge naturalistic form and human function.
Monica's jewelry is created with sculpting materials like bronze or silver and some recent work contains semi precious stones. The surface patina of Monica's jewelry has subtle texture and weathering effects which indicate an awareness of the passing of time.
Through the chosen materials and naturalistic approach, Monica's work encourages reflection and meditation.
Monica's sense of design comes from a deeply rooted tradition in design, her father Achille Castiglioni, was one of Italy's most famous designers during the heyday of Italian design in 1950's & 60's, creating dynamic and iconoclastic work into the 1980's.
Today Achille Castigioni is still a major influence to designers of all generations.
In 1981 Monica began producing her own collection of jewellery.
In 1990 she created the Anthias Jewellery Brand together with Natsuko Toyofuku.
Today Monica Castiglioni is working and creating independently in Milan, Italy.
