The mc&co daybed is one of the first things that we had designed and fabricated when we first opened in 2006.
Made from solid cedar with finger jointed corners, the mc&co daybed looks great from any angle.
The unfinished cedar gets darker over time and allows a type of personalized wear to develop similar to a pair of jeans.
Cedar is a lightweight and dimensionally stable wood that lies flat and stays straight, which means it resists the natural tendency to crack and check as you might find in many other wood species. Its distinct cell structure discourages moisture rot by allowing it to dry out faster than furniture made from tropical hardwoods.
The pillows are made by mc&co for the 2012 Fall & Winter season.
Hand made with Knoll fabrics the pillows are 12 x 20 inches each and filled with duck feathers.

Batucada is a collection of vases, hanging lamps and trays designed by Brunno Jahara.
The objects come in various shapes, sizes and colors and it is made of 100% aluminum and anodized
in shades of green, blue, grey, purple, red and golden yellow.
The ‘Batucada’ collection (In Portuguese stands for a percussion beat used in carnival parties).
In Brazil people in poor communities (favelas) play instruments made of tins, aluminum pots and other alternative materials
and that’s what has inspired Brunno to merge music and design to create the pieces.
In Brazil 98% of the aluminum produced is recycled, making it one of the first countries in the world rank of recycling of aluminum.
This is chiefly due to a large network of ‘catadores’ (people who search the trash for recyclable materials).
It is cheaper to produce a ton of recycled aluminum then to produce the same amount of new aluminum.
Brunno Jahara uses the anodizing process which makes the aluminum 30% stronger than steel and also gives it a vividly colored finish.
After spending more than 5 years in Europe working with designers and companies such as Jaime Hayon, Fabrica and Flavio Albanese (director of Domus Magazine), Brunno decided to return to Brazil and set up his own studio in São Paulo.
mc&co are one of the only shops in the US selling this amazing line

Form & Function

The new mc&co Tarp Tote Bags are made from an 11 oz. fabric called Top Gun, which is considered to be one of the most durable marine grade fabrics today.
This year we have chosen 2 new colors for the tarp tote, Seagull Grey and Royal Blue both with a soft medium blue interior pocket.
Perfect for a trip to the beach or the green market plus everything else in between.
Marine grade fabrics are a catch all phrase that covers hundreds of materials
such as Acrylics, PVC, silicon treated substrates and many coated meshes suitable for outdoors use.
Most Marine grade fabrics offer protection against Ultra Violet light and to some extent are water resistance or water proof.
Ultra Violet light causes damage to boat varnish through loss of color and cracking and peeling.
To avoid constant boat repair, covers are fabricated for all sails that are left outside, and any exposed painted or varnished woodwork.
Sewn with #92 thread the mc&co tarp tote is an excellent all around tote that looks good & will last for years.

Sweater Fixer from ANNODIA
Hand-spinning of wool was a cottage industry that really took off in medieval Europe, where the wool spinners (often women and children) would provide enough yarn to service the needs of the men who operated the loom. This would occur in districts favourable to sheep husbandry. The introduction of the flying shuttle upset this balance.
Today wool is produced all over the world, mostly in factories in Asia.
Very few insects have the ability to digest wool, of these the larvae of the Webbing Clothes Moths, Case making Clothes Moth, and various species of carpet beetles are the most widespread and common in North America and Europe.
The Larvae of the moths are active in the spring and summer months, when most wool sweaters are deep in the 'winter clothes" drawer.
It's a bummer to retrieve your favorite sweater only to see pencil size holes usually on the front and center .........
Sweater Fixer utilizes felting needles and colored wool called 'bunting", the hole in the sweater is laid out over a piece of foam, the bunting is chosen and spread out over the hole, the needles are worked by hand, quickly like a random sewing machine, this binds the bunting to the sweater, it's kinda magic.
